The Harris County Hospital District (HCHD) HIV Services provides
HIV/AIDS Training in the heart of Texas' largest medical center at
the country's first free standing HIV/AIDS outpatient clinic. Within
Thomas Street Health Center, one will receive current HIV education
and medical preceptorship from two medical schools; Baylor College
of Medicine and University of Texas School of Medicine. Our
HIV education programs cater to physicians, nurse practioners, nurses,
LVNs, medical case managers, social workers and health educators.
HCHD received the 2005 TX/OK AETC Director's Award in recognition
of their outstanding efforts in the provision of HIV education for
clinicians in their region.
The Harris County Hospital District HIV Services
offers outstanding Level I and II programs, catering to Nurse Practioners, Nurses,
LVNs, Medical Case Managers and Social Workers. In addition, we host
Level III preceptorships to LVNs Medical Fellows and Physicians.
In addition our team is available to host Level I and Level II HIV
Education programs in your home facility. Upon contacting us via
e–mail or telephone, with 3–months advance notice, we can bring
to your medical or social group up–to–date HIV/AIDS Education. Don't

Clinical consultations are provided to physicians,
nurse practitioners and physician assistants on a variety
of topics, including antiretroviral therapy, drug interactions
and resistance, HIV/AIDS treatment management and post–exposure
prophylaxis.

Mr. Rodriguez is the
Program Manager for the Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education Training
Center (AETC) in Houston, Texas. Also, as Nursing Coordinator
for HIV Services Department for the Harris County Hospital
District, he is responsible for the grants management of Ryan
White Care Act Parts A, C and D. He is also the Program Manager
for the Perinatal Transmission Elimination program in conjunction
with the Texas Department of State Health Services and the
Director at Large for the Houston–Galveston chapter of the
Association for Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC). Mr. Rodriguez also
serves on the Harris County Ryan White Planning Council and
will complete his 30th year of nursing and his 20th year of
HIV Nursing in May of 2007. |

Mr. Benavides is the
HIV Health Educator for the Harris County Hospital District–Thomas
Street Health Center and LPS Coordinator for the TX/OK AETC. He
graduated from the University of Dallas, Irving, TX with a
BA in psychology. He has coordinated the HCHD Annual HIV Update
conference, "Understanding HIV Dynamics" for the past six years.
He has partnered with many other healthcare organizations to
present educational programs, including the Secondary School
Teachers and Healthcare Professionals in Sakhalin Island, Russia. |

| Dr. Andrade is an Assistant
Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at Baylor
College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. Dr Andrade received his
medical degree at the Catholic University, Guayaquil, Ecuador.
After graduating in Infectious Diseases at UT–Houston Medical
School he became highly involved with HIV care working at the
largest HIV community clinic in Houston, Thomas Street Health
Center, in addition to Ben Taub General Hospital and at the North
West community early interventional HIV clinic.
Doctor Andrade is currently the Director of
HIV–Education at TSHC–Baylor College of Medicine, and the
AETC–Houston Medical Director. He was recently awarded for
his role as educator in the Houston community with the Fulbright & Jaworski
L.L.P Faculty Excellence Award in Educational Leadership.
Dr Andrade is leading many HIV clinical trials in Houston,
including CPCRA, CHARTER, and Texas Repository for AIDS Neuropathogenesis
Research. |

Sharon Carter is a
graduate of Texas Southern University, earning a BA in Psychology. She
has over 15 years experience in HIV/AIDS Care. Presently,
Ms Carter is the Outreach Coordinator for the HCHD Thomas Street
Health Center and a coordinator for Texas Oklahoma AETC Houston
Harris County area. She assists in coordinating several
TSHC education endeavors, including the annual Mental Health
Workshop and HCHD HIV/AIDS Update Conference. In addition,
Ms Carter contributes to the TSHC Volunteer Mentor Program
and volunteers as secretary for the City of Houston HIV African
American Task Force (AAFT). |
