Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the concept of cultural competency & indicate theories of cultural competency to deliver culturally & linguistically appropriate services.
  • Identify the value of cultural competency as it pertains to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in special populations.
  • Understand healthcare needs of refugees and the prevalence and treatment of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
