"HIV 101: HIV Screening, Treatment, & Referral Overview" presented by Muhammad Akbar, MD. 

This training will be broadcasted LIVE over the internet.

 

Participants will learn about the epidemiologic trends among various sub-populations based on age, gender, and demographic locations.  The training will go over virology/pathogenesis, testing, linkage to care and treatment options.  Guidelines for testing and treatment will be discussed briefly.

Speaker Information

Dr. Muhammad Akbar is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.  Fellowship trained in Infectious Diseases.  Dr. Akbar has been in HIV clinical care since 2003.  He currently runs a full time HIV/AIDS clinic at Parkland Hospital's Southeast COPC.  Dr. Akbar is a member of ISA/HIV/MA, AAHIVM.
