    1. Have you registered on the AHA website? If not, you must do so in order to access training. Click here!  If so, move-on to step 2.
    2. Once you have registered for the AHA website, click here to complete mandatory form, PIF.
    3. You will be re-directed to a registration page for the course on the AHA webpage. 
    4. Click "select" next to the course title
    5. Enter your log-in information
    6. Enter the access code for this course: topic3hiv (case sensitive) Please do not cut & paste.
    7. The course will automatically appear in your "my courses tab".  Please click on "launch" to start the course.
    8. Start the module at your own pace (allow at least 1 hour). To begin the course click on the first link titled "General Information Page".  After viewing this link, click on 'Return to Course Outline" located at the bottom left corner of the screen to return to the course outline.  Click on the next link to continue the course.

    • Identify the key principles in managing CVD risk in persons with HIV infection.
    • Define the most appropriate successful evidence-based therapeutic interventions to reduce the risk of CVD and/or progression including smoking cessation, diet, exercise, BP management, and lipid-lowering therapy.
    • Integrate significant drug-drug interactions between statins and ART into therapeutic decision making.

 

Description

Presented by William J. Robbins, MD, FACP, AAHIVS, a sub-specialist in Infectious Disease and a specialist in HIV medicine.  He is also a principal investigator for multiple studies involving phase II-III agents in the treatment of HIV.  Dr. Robbins will present how to identify the key principles in managing CVD risk in persons with HIV infection, define the most appropriate successful evidence-based therapeutic interventions to reduce the risk of CVD and/or progression including smoking cessation, diet, exercise, BP management, and lipid lowering therapy; and how to integrate significant drug-drug interactions between statins and ART into therapeutic decision making.
